"Yours is the day, yours also the night; you established the luminaries and the sun. You have fixed all the bounds of the earth; you made summer and winter." -- Psalm 74:16-17
As the Psalmist states, all belongs to our wondrous Creator...the day, the night, the moon, the sun, all the earth - including the seasons. As we enter this season of rest and refreshment, of sunny days and balmy breezes, I pray we save time in our recreation for God.
St. John's will be offering many opportunities to worship and praise our majestic Creator this summer. We will be resuming our summer early worship with a twist. The time will be 8:30 AM, and the service will have a lighter format, with praise and contemporary music being its mainstay and focus. Sunday School will be held at 9:15, and our traditional worship will follow at 10:30 AM. In addition to our Sunday morning offerings, our weekly prayer group and Bible studies will continue. And children of all ages will have the opportunity in June to step back in time and experience Jerusalem as it was during Jesus' time through our week-long Vacation Bible School, Jerusalem Marketplace, June 2 - 6, (6:30 - 8:30 PM). And of course during July there are numerous church camp possibilities and our youth work trip that many of our young folk have already registered for. So many opportunities to reconnect and renew our relationship with God and one another - it's almost amazing that we can accomplish so much in only three months time!
I hope you will take part in as many of these creative and faith-strengthening opportunities as possible. Remember, summer only lasts three months, and then the craziness of a new program year begins! Take time to relax and renew by keeping your connection to St. John's strong this summer.
